Coin Operated Laundry Explained

If you're new to our laundromat, you may wonder how coin operated machines work. You don't need an app or a card here. Just drop in your coins or tokens, pick a machine, and start washing right away.

Hemet's dry, dusty weather means towels, rugs, and outdoor gear get dirty fast. Coin operated washers make it easy to clean these items whenever you need to, without signing up for anything. Whatever you're washing, see everything we offer.

Custom Tokens Keep Machines Fair for Everyone

You may notice we use custom tokens instead of loose coins here in Hemet. A few area laundromats have added card readers, but most of us still run on coins or tokens.

We made the switch to tokens during the national coin shortage in 2020. That shortage hit hard after a theft took over $100 in quarters in a single break-in. It left our regular customers short on change for weeks.

Tokens don't carry any refund value. That means they don't tempt anyone to try breaking into our machines the way loose coins can.

common issues

Common Coin Machine Problems — And How They're Fixed

Jammed Machine

If you visit often, you may notice a change machine or coin slot acting up here. Most issues come from people misusing the equipment, not from wear and tear.

Kill Switch

Some non-customers try to use our change machines like an ATM. Before that can happen, we shut the machine down right away with a remote kill switch. This keeps change on hand for you.

Foreign Coins

Our machines are built to reject foreign coins and tokens. A few still slip through and cause a jam. When that happens, we mark the machine out of service. Our staff fix it, usually the same day or the next.

Big loads, done right

Sorting and Sizing Your Load the Right Way

New to our laundromat? Here's how to start your wash in Hemet:

  • Load your clothes into the washer.
  • Add your coins and/or tokens.
  • Check the door for any caught clothing or material. This prevents leaking during the cycle.
  • Pick your cycle and press start.
  • Add a super wash for a deeper clean, if you'd like.

Once you're here, pick the right machine for your load. A 20 lb load fits our T-300 washer, and a 30 lb load fits our T-400.

For comforters, rugs, or other bulky items, equipment for the loads that overflow a regular washer. For anything else, check our full range of laundry services.

Not sure which machine to use? Ask one of our attendants. We're happy to help bigger Hemet households find the right size.

Customers from Valle Vista and Hemet can always ask an attendant for a machine recommendation before they start.

clean is king

Keeping Machines Clean and Bed-Bug Free

Cleanliness matters when you visit a laundromat in Hemet. Our attendants check and monitor machines throughout the day.

Hot dryer cycles also help lower the risk of bed bugs on clothing and bedding. A full heat cycle helps keep your load safe. If you only need to dry a load you already washed at home, bring an already-washed load to dry here.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there seating while I wait?

Yes, we have bench seating for you while you wait. New seating was installed October 2026.

Why do you use tokens instead of just quarters?

We use tokens because they carry no refund value. This keeps them from tempting theft the way loose coins can. Additionally, it is to make it easier on you. For example, it's much easier dropping 11 tokens vs. 44 quarters for an 8 load washer.

Do you accept cards, or is it coins only?

We run on coins and tokens here in Hemet. Some area laundromats have added card readers, but ours work every time on cash. If you've ever wondered why many laundromats still only take quarters, we explain it from the owner's side. We also have 3 change machines on-site to break your bills, so you don't need to bring quarters from home.

What happens if a machine jams?

A jammed machine gets marked out of service right away. Since we have an attendant on-site every hour we're open, someone usually spots the problem fast, and either our staff or the owner can usually fix it the same day.

Can I sort my laundry at the laundromat?

You can, but we ask that you sort at home first. Sorting at the folding tables ties them up for customers who are ready to fold, and piles on the floor get in the way of other people’s machines. If it’s your first visit, our beginner’s guide to using a laundromat for the first time walks you through sorting and packing before you leave the house.

What size machine fits a big load?

Ask one of our attendants for the best fit. They'll match a machine to your load size right away.
