Quick summary
From Hope in the Valley Baptist Church to Clean Laundry in One Straight Drive
The Laundry Basket is a self-service, coin-operated laundromat at 145 E. Stetson Ave. in Hemet, CA 92543, about 4.6 miles southeast of Hope in the Valley Baptist Church. Most of the drive is a straight run down Kirby Street and across Stetson Avenue. We’re open until midnight every day, an attendant is on-site, and there’s parking in front and in back. Our washers and dryers take quarters and tokens, and three change machines turn your bills into quarters.
Hope in the Valley sits at 1480 N. Kirby St., on the north side of Hemet and not far from 412 Church in San Jacinto. That puts the church close to several neighborhoods we already serve, including a few mobile home parks just down the road. If you have errands in town, we’re easy to fit in. The Hemet DMV is directly behind our building, and the area’s only UPS Store is right across the street. You can also see other churches, parks, and landmarks near us.
after church
Laundry Day for Hope in the Valley Families
Sunday is laundry day for a lot of households. Since we’re open until midnight every day, there’s still plenty of time after church to get through the week’s pile: work clothes, school clothes, Sunday best, and every towel in the house.
Living in Hemet also means living with dust. It blows through this part of town just like it does everywhere else in the valley, and it settles into bedding, curtains, throw rugs, and pet beds. Mayo Clinic suggests that you wash sheets, blankets, and pillowcases every week in hot water to cut down on dust mites. Those bulky pieces rarely fit in a home washer, and that’s where our bigger machines come in.

The Mayo page recommends weekly washing in water at least 130°F. I left the temperature out on purpose so the page doesn’t suggest your washers reach 130°F. Add it back only if you know they do.
Our 32 front-load washers come in sizes for every kind of load:
- 2-load washers ($3.25) for everyday clothes and Sunday best
- 3- and 4-load washers ($5.00 and $6.25) for a full week of family laundry
- 6- and 8-load washers ($8.50 and $11.00) for comforters, dusty throw rugs, curtains, and pet beds
Dryers run 4 to 6 minutes per quarter, depending on the size you choose.
why choose us
Clean, Staffed, and Locally Run Since 2018
Back in February 2018, this building was a 2.5-star laundromat better known for loitering than for clean laundry. We changed that. Every washer and dryer was replaced with made-in-USA Dexter machines, full air conditioning went in, and an attendant took over the floor. Today we hold a 4.6-star Google rating, and regulars, first-time visitors, and travelers passing through all tell us we’re the cleanest laundromat in town.
Out-of-order signs are rare here, too. Our co-owner fixes every machine himself rather than waiting on an outside service call, which keeps about 99% of our washers and dryers running on any given day.
- An attendant on-site all day, except for a short lunch break
- Washers wiped down inside, door seals included, after every load
- 12 security cameras that Hemet police officers have called the best in the area
- Full air conditioning for hot Hemet afternoons
- Veteran-owned and locally run
- Algunos de nuestros encargados hablan español.

you have options
Self-Serve, Dry-Only, or Drop-Off Laundry
Did your washer at home quit with the clothes still wet? Bring them in and just use a dryer. Most laundromats save their dryers for wash customers. We don’t. Dry-only customers are always welcome here, so your laundry doesn’t have to sit in a wet pile while you wait on a repair.
New homes are going up along Kirby Street right now, and not everyone working on those crews lives in the valley. If you’re in town for the job, you don’t need a washer where you’re staying. A 4-load washer fits a full week of dusty work clothes in one cycle, and since we’re open until midnight every day, there’s time to come by after a long shift.
Would you rather hand the laundry off instead? Try our Fluff & Fold drop-off service. Bring at least 15 lbs and we’ll wash, dry, and fold it for you. Next-day service is $1.50 per pound, ready after 12 pm the following day. Same-day service is $2.25 per pound when you drop off before 11 am, ready after 6 pm. Fluff & Fold accepts cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Cash App, and paying cash skips the 1.25% card fee. Our storage space is limited, so please pick up your order as soon as it’s ready.
The self-serve washers and dryers here take quarters and tokens only. Tokens bought at The Laundry Basket also work at our sister shop, The Laundry Hamper in San Jacinto, about 3.8 miles away, and many of our San Jacinto customers use both.
Having two shops helps in another way. Our building loses power from time to time, and an outage can stop a load mid-cycle. If that happens while you’re here, we’ll send you over to The Laundry Hamper to finish your laundry at no additional cost.
