Laundry Tips
Help Us Help You
Please take a few moments to familiarize yourself with some common issues we encounter here. By following these simple tips, you’ll not only achieve cleaner clothes with fewer problems, but you’ll also help prevent damage to our machinery, which can lead to costly repairs. Your cooperation helps keep our equipment in good condition for everyone to use. Thank you for your support and patronage!
Overloading
If you notice your clothes spinning as one big lump, they aren’t being properly cleaned and will not dry effectively.
Too Much Soap
More soap does not equal cleaner clothes. Excessive soap takes extra rinse cycles to get it all out. Otherwise, laundry will remain soapy after a single rinse cycle.
Super Wash Option
All machines with an ‘Emergency Stop’ button also offer a ‘Super Wash’ option, which must be selected at the start of the wash cycle. This feature adds an extra $0.50 to the cost.
Empty Pockets
Please empty pockets before washing or drying clothes. Items like nails, screws, and other metal objects can cause costly damage to the washer and dryer drums.
Scent Beads
Scent beads go in the wash – NOT SOAPBOXES or DRYERS. They clog washer drains and dryer filters, which prevents the machines from working properly, especially when it comes to drying.
Drying Time
Large loads won’t dry in less than 30 minutes. Overloaded dryers won’t completely dry in a short amount of time either.
Pet Beds / Pet Hair
Please shake pet hair off bedding towels, or any additional items PRIOR to arrival. Pet hair clogs our equipment and can transfer to other customers’ clothes, which is inconsiderate to those who use the equipment after you, especially to those with pet allergies.
Underwire Bras
Ladies: please use a mesh bag when washing your bras, which are designed to protect your delicates during laundering. Without it, the underwire from your bra can come loose in the wash, clogging and/or puncture the drain valve. In the dryer, the underwire may slip through the drum holes, get tangled, and lead to dryer malfunctions.
Comforters / Pillows
Please don’t leave comforters unattended, as they won’t dry completely without supervision. Bulky items like these need to be rotated during the cycle to ensure even drying. Avoid mixing clothing with comforters, as clothes tend to get trapped in the center, preventing them from drying properly.
Softener
Softener is not soap and does not clean. Make certain you are pouring detergent in the soapbox.
